1) Is acetaminophen dangerous?
Acetaminophen is the safe and effective drug if used at recommended dose and interval.
2) How is acetaminophen overdose treated?
An antidote (N-acetylcysteine or NAC) is most effective if given within 8-12 hours following ingestion and symptomatic treatment. In few cases activated charcoal and gastric lavage may be needed. Severe cases of liver failure may require a liver transplant.
